Race and gender differences in C-reactive protein levels.
OBJECTIVES This study sought to determine whether there are race and gender differences in the distribution of C-reactive protein (CRP) levels. BACKGROUND Few data are available comparing CRP distributions in different race and gender groups. Recent clinical practice recommendations for CRP testing for cardiovascular risk assessment suggest a uniform threshold to define high relative risk (>3...
متن کاملC - Reactive Protein Levels in Patients with Periodontal Disease and Normal Subjects
Although periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease but some factors of acute inflammation phase are involved in this disease among which is the C-Reactive protein (CRP). To minimize its effects, anti-inflammatory drugs or non-pharmacological approaches such as oral hygiene is recommended. CRP can also be used for the prediction and early detection of periodontal disease. The aim of the pr...
متن کاملSerum Adenosine Deaminase Activity and C-Reactive Protein Levels in Patients with Brucellosis
Background and Objective: Brucellosis is a main transmittable zoonotic disease, which is endemic, and a common health burden in Iran. Adenosine deaminase (ADA) is an essential enzyme which is involved in purine metabolism and its role in immune system is very important. The aim of this study was to determine serum changes of ADA and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels in patients with brucellosi...

متن کاملC-REACTIVE PROTEIN RESPONSE IN ANGINA PECTORIS
C-reactive protein (CRP) response was studied in 44 patients with acute angina pectoris admitted to the coronary care unit. 71 % of patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI)had positive CRP test while 73% of patients presumed to have unstable angina pectoris had negative CRP test. This test can be helpful in differentiating between acute MI and unstable angina pectoris.
